Our approach to health and safety

Our approach to Health, Safety, Environment & Quality is clear. To engage in all aspects of our business activities considerately, ethically, responsibly and safely without risk or harm to our employees, clients, members of the general public, supply chain partners or the environment.

Safety & Health

Health and safety is communicated via regular bulletins, newsletters, updates, training sessions and our unique ‘Care Card’ system of reporting, this is supported via a dedicated team that regularly evaluate, test, inspect, audit and support the business and our colleagues, empowering them to make the right decisions on safety at all times.

We remain committed to continuing to promote health and safety throughout our business and will work tirelessly to ensure that we continue to be regarded as one of the leaders in our industry when it comes to safe and efficient lifting. Every operator, driver and engineer is trained to a minimum of CPCS or industry standard and undergoes a regular industry Health & Safety testing as well as medical testing through our Qualified Occupational Health partners.

Environmental Responsibility

Our approach to environmental responsibility is practical, considered and embedded within our day-to-day operations. We are committed to working in a responsible and sustainable way, taking into account the impact of our activities on the environment, our customers, suppliers, employees and the communities in which we operate.

Continued investment in our crane and support vehicle fleet plays an important role in this commitment. Our fleet renewal programme helps us operate with modern, fuel-efficient equipment, while advanced vehicle tracking allows us to plan and monitor journeys effectively, reducing unnecessary mileage, fuel consumption and associated emissions wherever possible.

We also take a considered approach to the maintenance of our equipment. Wherever practical, servicing, repairs and warranty work are carried out within our purpose-built workshops or directly on site, helping to avoid unnecessary transportation of machinery to external dealerships.

Across our operations, we continually look for practical opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce our environmental impact and strengthen our approach to sustainability. Through responsible management and ongoing improvement, we aim to operate effectively today while recognising our responsibility to the generations that follow.

Quality

Quality is at the heart of the service we provide. At Ellis Crane Hire, we are committed to delivering consistently high standards across our equipment, lifting services and customer support, with the aim of meeting — and wherever possible exceeding — our customers’ expectations.

Our Quality Management System is structured in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, providing a robust framework that supports consistency, accountability and continuous improvement throughout our operations. Our management team takes an active role in maintaining these standards and ensuring we meet both recognised quality requirements and the specific expectations of our customers.

By continually reviewing and improving the way we work, we can maintain the professional, reliable and high-quality service our customers expect from Ellis Crane Hire.

Our commitment to our community

We promote activities that positively improve wellbeing and inclusiveness for all within our community and environment.

By supporting local charities, sports clubs, and support groups, we give back to a community that has given Ellis Crane Hire so much since 1982. We encourage everyone from all walks of life to see the opportunities and benefits available within the lifting industry.
