Delivering the service we’re known for. Our 90T Liebherr mobile crane and brick forks were recently put to work on a new-build housing development, completing a series of smooth and efficient material lifts across the site.

As construction progresses on a busy housing development, access can become increasingly restricted. With brick packs required in areas beyond the reach of conventional site equipment, Ellis Crane Hire provided the lifting solution needed to keep materials moving.

Positioned strategically within the development, our 90T Liebherr lifted brick packs from the designated loading area, taking them safely over the new-build properties before lowering them into the required locations. Paired with brick forks, the crane provided a controlled and efficient method of supplying materials directly to the areas where they were needed.

The 90T Liebherr is particularly well suited to this type of work, combining substantial reach and lifting capacity with the manoeuvrability required on active construction sites. With a main boom extending to 60m, the crane was configured at 52.4m for this operation, working at a maximum radius of 38m. Each brick pack weighed 1.5 tonnes, with the hook block and pallet forks bringing the total load weight to 1.96 tonnes.

Careful crane positioning was central to the operation. The team considered the required working radius, ground conditions, outrigger configuration, surrounding structures and ongoing site activity before lifting commenced. The crane needed to achieve the required radii while clearing existing 16m-high scaffolding, without unnecessarily restricting activity elsewhere on site.

Although the site road and general ground conditions were good, a tarmac sub-base had been laid within the rigging area, which would later form part of the development’s car parking. To distribute the imposed loads and provide a suitable foundation for the crane, Ellis Crane Hire supplied 2m x 1m steel outrigger mats.

From the selected position, the crane was able to carry out the required lifting operations across more than half of the development, reducing the need for repeated repositioning and helping materials reach the areas where they were required.

The project demonstrates the versatility of our 90T Liebherr and the importance of selecting the right crane, configuration and position for the demands of each site. Backed by experienced personnel and detailed lift planning, Ellis Crane Hire provides safe and professional lifting solutions across a wide range of construction environments.
