Ellis Crane Hire has achieved certification to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, marking an important milestone in the continued development of the business and recognising our approach to quality, environmental responsibility and occupational health & safety.
The certifications were awarded on 5 May 2026 by UKAS-accredited Interface NRM and cover the planning, management and delivery of contract lifting operations and the supply of operated hired cranes.
Reaching this milestone follows six months of focused work led by our Health & Safety team, with the assistance of independent management systems consultant Lee Davies. The process provided an opportunity to look closely at the systems already in place at Ellis Crane Hire, build upon established working practices and introduce greater standardisation across the business.
This involved reviewing procedures, documentation and risk assessments, developing environmental processes, completing internal and external audits, undertaking site visits and carrying out management reviews. However, achieving the certifications was about more than documenting how we work. A key part of the process was ensuring these standards became embedded across the wider business.
Employees throughout Ellis Crane Hire have undertaken updated training, ensuring our teams understand the procedures relevant to their roles and have the knowledge required to maintain consistently high standards in their day-to-day work. This investment in our people will continue alongside the development of our systems, helping ensure that training and working practices evolve with the business.
The same forward-thinking approach can be seen in our ongoing investment in the fleet. As equipment is renewed and expanded, we continue to consider the latest technology available and where lower-emission alternatives can be practically introduced. Our tracked carrier fleet, for example, is fully battery powered, while careful route planning helps us identify efficient journeys to and from projects across the country.
For a business with more than four decades of lifting experience, achieving all three ISO certifications is not about changing the foundations on which Ellis Crane Hire has been built. Instead, it is about building upon them.
